Irish Setter Rescue

Irish Setter Rescue: Benny

Benny

Benny is five years old, an entire male Setter who is with us, because of other commitments his owner cannot give him the life and exercise he so richly deserves.

Benny is a wonderful natured setter, gets on well with other dogs. He needs, like all setters need, a good sized garden, well fenced and 'setter proof', someone home for the majority of the day, no children under 7 (a Rescue Rule not because Benny would hurt a child).

He will be bathed and trimmed, vaccinated and micro chipped before going to his new home. If you like the look of Benny and can give him the new home where he will be loved, exercised and become an appreciated member of a family. Phone Maureen on 01787 248143 or e-mail and you might be the lucky one to get Benny.

Rolo - Irish Setter Rescue

Rolo

Rolo has come to us from Ireland, he is from the working side of our breed, is an entire male of approximately 6 years of age.. Rolo's story is very sad. In April he was thrown out of a car in a village in Ireland. It was midnight and a person living near the road heard the car door slam and heard a dog crying. She went to investigate and found Rolo.

He would not go into her house or shed but slept on her doorstep for the rest of the night. Next day he went into the Limerick Animal Welfare and was christened Rolo. Poor Rolo is still very nervous when he meets people, who can blame him goodness knows what he has been through.

He loves a fuss and is eager to please. At the Kennels in the paddocks he runs just like any other setter - simply loves his exercise.

Rolo will be fully vaccinated, and micro chipped, bathed and trimmed before going to a new home.

He will need lots of time to forget his awful experience the extent of which we will never know. If you think that you could love and appreciate Rolo and have the right home for him please phone Maureen on 01787 248143 or e-mail.

Shannon - Irish Setter Rescue

Shannon (picture 2)

Shannon is a five months old bitch puppy who has come into our care because of changing family circumstances and a house move to another country. Shannon is very nervous still but fine when she gets to know you -she has coming into Rescue with her mother and ideally they could go together but this could mean that Shannon will forever be in her Mother's shadow and will never stand on her own feet and lead a normal life.

She is small, pretty and not yet fully trained. Shannon needs lots of TLC, must have someone home during the day, no children under 7 years and a well fenced garden. People who have owned setters before would be preferable but anyone owning large Gundogs will understand a setter. Shannon is fully vaccinated, and will be micro chipped and bathed before going to a new home

If you have that loving, understandinghome for Shannon please phone Maureen on 01787 248143 or e-mail.

Tessa - Irish Setter Rescue

Tessa (picture 2)

Tessa is Shannon's mother, she is an entire bitch who will be 2 years old in July 2008. The reason for her coming to us is the same as Shannon's Tessa is mot a large bitch, very sweet and easy. Fully House trained, good traveller.

An entirely lovely bitch who would fit into most homes without fuss Tessa will be bathed & trimmed before going to her new home. She is fully vaccinated and micro chipped. If you have the right home for Tessa phone Maureen on 01787 248143 or e-mail.

Lottie - Irish Setter Rescue

Lottie (picture 2)

Lottie is a seven year old spayed bitch. Lottie needs another home because a new baby is about to arrive in the home where there is already another dog and a little boy. Lottie's owner feels that when the baby arrived she will not be able to give Lottie the life she deserves.

Lottie is in good health, has none of the problems associated with being spayed, is well trained, obedient and loves to travel in the car. A home either by herself or with another male dog would be fine. If you think that Lottie is the girl you have been looking for phone Maureen on 01787 248143 or e-mail.

Ruby - Irish Setter Rescue

Ruby (picture 2)

Ruby is 11 months old, she is not spayed and needs a little bit of training but she is altogether a lovely setter. She has come to us because her owners new work takes him away from home from Monday until Friday and although she is cared for in his absence, he feels that she is not getting the exercise or attention that she needs.

Ruby is in good health, will be micro chipped, bathed and groomed before going to a new home. We are looking for owners for Ruby who are used to owning Irish Setters, who will be home during the day to give her the care, attention, training and exercise that her owner would like her to have.

A good sized, well fenced garden is a must and although Ruby is used to children our Rescue do not re-home where there are children under 7 years. If you have that perfect home for the lovely Ruby please phone Maureen on 01787 248143 or e-mail.

Findley - Irish Setter Rescue

Findlay (picture 2)

Findlay is a 3 year old entire male setter. He is well trainned ( except for coming back when at exercise), a good traveller and good in the home. Findlay is in our care because of family change of circumstances. He is a much loved member of that family and we need a home for him where he will remain and loved and an important member of his new family.

Findlay has never been used to children so a home without young children is needed. He is used to a very large , well fenced garden and we would need his future home to have likewise. He is an excellent traveller. He loves toys and has a special toy that is important to him - his Easter Bunny (see his picture).

If you feel that you have that forever loving home for the Handsome Findlay please phone Maureen on 01787 248143 or e-mail.

Grouse - Irish Setter Rescue

Grouse

Grouse is a mature gentleman of between 8 and 9 years. He is from Ireland and from the working strain. He wandered into a lady's garden a couple of weeks ago. He was very thin, friendly and needing some TLC. This kind lady fed him for a day or two but, could not keep him as she had dogs of her own. The Limerick Animal Welfare took him in and did all the necessary. He is now ready to be re-homed and we are looking for a home with a large well fenced garden and someone who will appreciate owning this lovely setter.

Just look at his picture and see how proudly he stands - he knows that he is a king of dogs, an Irish Setter. He walks well on a lead, and wants to be a loving companion to someone. He would suit retired people without young children pulling him about. I am sure that he would make a good companion for a spayed bitch of similar age. If Grouse is the boy for you ring Maureen on 01787 248143 or e-mail info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk.

Finnegan - Irish Setter Rescue

Finnegan (picture 2, picture 3)

Finnegan was born and bred in France from the working strain. He is approximately 5 years old, neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped with a very happy disposition. He is a very lucky dog as he would undoubtedly not be alive now if he had not been rescued in February 2006.

He had lived all his life before that time chained up outside a farm building in a country area of France. A young Dutch man drove past where Finney was tied up every day whatever the weather. He could see that the dog was getting thinner and thinner and he had something wrong with one of his front feet. Eventually, although his family had no garden, he approached the farmer to ask about the dog and about what was wrong with his foot. He was told that if he wanted him he could have him!!

The vet who treated him, said that maybe his foot had been run over by a farm vehicle, there was infection that was treatable but had he been left he would not have survived more than a week or two. Finnegan was eventually given to an English family who had land and he loved to run and run.
Now that the family have returned to England some six months ago and because they are in the middle of sheep and stock country Finnegan cannot have the free exercise he so loves. We are looking for setter people who have a very large garden where Finnegan can run to his hearts content and be safe. Finny lives with a Collie at present so as home with a bitch could well be suitable. This lovable, friendly and handsome fellow needs that special loving home that every setter should have. Phone 01787 248143 or e-mail Maureen on info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk if you are interested.
